Magnet Forensics Partners With Jamf to Simplify Digital Investigations of Apple Endpoints

Magnet Forensics, a developer of digital investigation solutions for more than 4,000 enterprises and public safety agencies in over 100 countries, is proud to share a partnership with Jamf, the industry standard in managing and securing Apple endpoints at work— to simplify the digital investigation of macOS endpoints.

Thanks to this partnership, Magnet Forensics customers can now reliably acquire data from remote macOS devices providing them with the evidence they need for thorough internal investigations (such as harassment, IP theft, and fraud), incident response, and supporting eDiscovery partners.

This integration will allow customers to seamlessly deploy the new signed Mac agent from Magnet AXIOM Cyber—Magnet Forensics’ robust digital forensics and incident response solution for organizations—onto their macOS endpoints using the Jamf platform.

Building on the macOS acquisition capabilities introduced in 2020, the new AXIOM Cyber-signed Mac agent will now allow data to be collected from macOS endpoints (currently Ventura) without triggering an Apple Transparency, Consent and Control (TCC) prompt—a recent feature of Apple devices to prevent unknown applications from running without a user’s permission. Collecting critical data from macOS devices was a technical challenge due to TCC, which limits and controls application access to features and SIP (System Integrity Protection) introduced in OS X El Capitan 2015.

“The partnership between Magnet Forensics and Jamf is an exciting development for corporate investigators looking to get data from remote macOS endpoints,” said Kerry Armistead, SVP of Product and Corporate Development at Magnet Forensics. “In the era of hybrid and remote work, Jamf’s superior ability to manage and secure Apple endpoints is known throughout the DFIR community. This gives Magnet AXIOM Cyber users the ability to easily utilize those capabilities, which will help the approximate third of remote collections that are macOS endpoints, and in turn, make their investigations even faster and more reliable when time is critical.”

Jamf is trusted by organizations globally to manage and provide secure access to their Apple endpoints.

“We’re happy to be able to partner with Magnet Forensics on this integration,” said Josh Jagdfeld, Senior Director of Alliances at Jamf. “With so many macOS devices being used in the corporate space, it’s critical to have partners who are able to cater to the unique features of the macOS platform without compromise. We believe that connecting Jamf’s platform to Magnet AXIOM Cyber will be a major advancement for corporate investigators everywhere.”
