Mobile devices have become a huge part of our lives and, by extension, of forensic investigations when a crime is committed. Every suspect, victim, and bystander has a wealth of evidence right in their pocket. But as your cases are filled with more and more mobile devices, making sense of that data and clearly and effectively sharing it can be problematic.
Instances of synthetic, or deepfake, media have seen a dramatic increase in recent years, with an estimated 500,000 video and voice deepfakes shared on social media in 2023. While deepfakes aren’t a new phenomenon, advances in machine learning and AI have increased the speed, accuracy, and availability of developing synthetic media. And the source material for these fakes is increasingly available through our ever-expanding personal digital footprints.
Magnet Axiom 8.0 is now available and with this exciting update we wanted to take a closer look at some of the features that have been introduced in this release. Tune in to hear how Magnet Forensics is continuing to help DFIR examiners, and their stakeholders, streamline their workflows and manage the range and volume of evidence they encounter in their investigations.
iOS introduced the Shortcuts function to help automate device tasks and make our lives easier. With the iPhone 15 Pro Series, they even gave us a hardware option to utilize them. However, with this ability came some interesting anti-forensic theories for those working with the mobile devices.
The Magnet Virtual Summit 2024 CTF was another exciting competition! We had over 1350 people register for the CTF and 491 folks solved at least one question.
