From origins to online: Tracking and stopping Nihilistic Violent Extremists
This presentation explores the historical evolution of Nihilistic Violent Extremist (NVE) groups such as “764,” “No Lives Matter,” “6996,” etc., and examines how digital evidence can be harnessed to understand and counter patterns of radicalization of juveniles in modern extremist networks. By tracing the origins, tactics, and digital footprints of NVEs, we reveal how such groups exploit online platforms for recruitment, coordination, and ideological dissemination. The session emphasizes the critical role of digital forensic methods in identifying behavioral patterns, mapping social connections, and informing proactive intervention strategies. Attendees will gain insights into the intersection of historical context, online ecosystems, and investigative techniques, contributing to a broader understanding of how to detect and disrupt radicalization in the digital age.
