A new approach to obtaining vehicle data
Magnet Autokey is a plug-and-play vehicle forensics solution that gives law enforcement the ability to extract and share digital evidence from modern vehicle infotainment systems — without the need to dismantle the vehicle and perform a chip-off. Autokey provides fast access to encrypted vehicle data and makes vehicle evidence available in Magnet Review for streamlined collaboration across investigative teams.
At launch, Magnet Autokey can acquire evidence from infotainment units used in modern Ford, Lincoln, Kia, Hyundai, and Chevrolet vehicles, with additional support for Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, and Toyota infotainment systems coming soon.
The non-intrusive USB access of Magnet Autokey delivers capabilities that aren’t available with legacy vehicle forensics approaches:
- Access encrypted infotainment systems — Magnet Autokey provides access to evidence stored on encrypted vehicle systems that other methods cannot reach.
- No vehicle teardown required — Access data directly through the USB port, eliminating the need for disassembly and saving hours of examiner effort.

Unlock critical evidence hidden inside modern vehicles
Modern vehicles record a range of valuable data like location history, connected phones, and system activity that helps place people, devices, and actions at key moments in an investigation. This data can be used to reconstruct timelines, confirm individual involvement, and corroborate statements and accounts from suspects or witnesses.
Vehicle forensics can provide crucial insights for investigations where timelines, movements, and involvement need to be proven:
- Location data — GPS points, historical coordinates, and trip logs help place vehicles at a crime scene and build the sequence of events leading up to and following an incident.
