Evaluating the use of a novel expert system for interpretation of media authentication results

As AI has made fake images and videos much more realistic, it’s getting harder for investigators to tell what’s real, especially when the answer needs to stand up in court. Answers to media authentication questions can generate a lot of complex data for analysis.

The team at Magnet Forensics have simplified the process for digital investigators by developing an AI Expert System within Magnet Verify to interpret data and provide a simple, succinct result. To validate the approach, the team went a step further, conducting and publishing this research paper in the Journal of Forensic Sciences to demonstrate the reliability of the outputs and build confidence in this novel technology.
